You can't supervise what you never learned to do

The Manifesto
AI does the work. You keep the thinking. A field guide to using the most powerful tool ever built without quietly handing it your mind.
You used to know the way. Before the navigator, you read the map. You memorized the turns, you understood the city, you built a picture in your head. And the eleventh time you drove there, you didn't need anything — you just knew.
Now you can drive to the same place ten times and still not know how to get there the eleventh. The voice told you where to turn, so you never learned. The map is gone, and so is the part of you that used to hold it. That trade happened so quietly nobody noticed the price.
It is happening again, everywhere, all at once — except now it isn't the route to your friend's house you're handing over. It's your writing. Your reasoning. Your taste. Your memory. The slow, hard-won machinery of thinking for yourself.
The same tool that gives you superpowers, used lazily, makes you stupid.
We are not against the machine. Used well, it is the most powerful tool a human mind has ever been handed. It drafts in seconds what took us hours. It explains, explores, accelerates. It can make a good thinker formidable.
But the same tool, used lazily, makes you stupid — not because the machine is dumb, but because you stop doing the reps. The skill you outsource is the skill you lose. Use it or lose it was never a metaphor; it is how brains work, and it has never been easier to lose.
So we believe three things. The tool is not the enemy — the reflex is. You cannot supervise what you never learned to do. And keeping your intelligence is a choice you make every day, in the small decision of what to do by hand and what to let run.
